 I LOVE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

Years ago, Elaine and I would send out lots of cards to relatives and friends, but when we got hit with a bunch of ailments, we stopped that activity.  Now that I am back among the living, I have tried to resume sending cards, but at first only to those who had already sent us cards.

As a sometime heathen, my cards are usually depictions of my old friend, Santa Clause and have no religious sentiment.

I enjoy getting holiday cards of any kind and I even like to read those travelogues that some folks enclose with their cards. Someday I may myself be able to exit hibernation and look at other scenes than those that appear through my dining room windows.

Meanwhile, let me show you a few cards that we have received this year.  I won't say who sent them.

This picture of Santa riding his bicycle through the colorful but icy tree-lined corridor intrigues me.  There has to be a story involved.  If not, I may try to create one.

Perhaps he is hurrying home for a quick snack of stone soup to give him the energy to check out the toys for his upcoming trip.

Looking out his window he may see the beautiful red cardinal that is hoping that Santa will grant his wish for birdseed.

If Santa looks closely, he may see how the red cardinal keeps warm.

Times are getting rough for animals under Global Warming, especially for the poor polar bear which now has hardly more than an ice cube to live on. But apparently, they can still have a little fun.

Even though I could never aspire to be an angel (who wants wings and a harp or trumpet anyway?  I like to look at depictions of them.

I admire and respect true believers in some kind of religion, no matter what.. although I do look a little askance at those Pastafarians who worship at the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Let's get real, folks!

Go ans send some more.
