Sunny and 65 degrees. Another nice New England day. Elaine and I went swimming. The water was quite cold at first, but we got used to it.
Earlier in the day, I had more blood drawn in anticipation of a CTSCAN next Monday. I'm a little nervous about the procedure because it could be very bad news. We'll see.
Vice Presidential Debate
Last night's debate was kind of fun to observe. Some watchers thought that Kaine lost the debate because he was a little rude in his interruptions. However, I believe he was trying to rattle Pence. But Pence was unreal... as usual.. Fact checkers found that Pence said a lot that was untrue about Trump, and he was unable or unwilling to defend the ugly things that Trump says regularly, but, to the delight of Trump supporters, his hair never once got out of place, and he never seemed to get very angry.
If Kaine had wanted just to get Pence's goat.. he could have brought up the memos that Pence put out when he was a Congressman and wanted all non-heterosexual persons fired from Government jobs. But, it wouldn't be fair to pick on Pence because of his Evangelical leanings, so Kaine didn't go there. Besides, as I said, I think he was just trying to rattle Pence by pointing out all the bullcrap that Trump has said since the beginning of this weird election cycle.
And, of course, Pence made a big point of saying "I get down on my knees every day." Oy!
Crossword Cleverness
I liked these entrees in a crossword puzzle put out by the Tribune Media Services. I don't know who the setter is, but I think he or she is a very clever person:
01. Number on some beer bottles?
Brew Strength
02. Washateria wear?
Laundry Shoe
03. Musical work played where Brits go?
Loo Concerto
04. Smokeless chimney duct?
The Magic Flue
Can you tell what all of these entrees have in common?
More on Donald
BBC.com reports that Donald Trump has a financial involvement with 515 organization and entities, and 264 start with the word "Trump," while another 54 include his initials, according to disclosure forms filed with the Federal Election Commission..
There is no doubt in my mind that Trump may indeed be a business "genius," who knows how to screw his providers and also be able to take every filing advantage that IRS affords, but does that make him a person who would make a great President?
You should have listened to the President.
Congress passed a law so that Americans will be able to sue Saudi Arabia over 911 issues. President Obama warned them that such a law would make it easy for people in other countries to sue the U.S. But did Congress listen? No. Obama vetoed their bill, and Congress overrode his veto. Now they see the error of their ways and think that they might want to rethink and modify the hurt by means of another bill. We'll see what happens.
This sounds a lot like Brexit. Some in Britain wanted it; most didn't. But poor voter turnout by persons opposed, assured it's passage. Now, almost everybody is sorry. Can they undo Brexit?
