90 degrees again .. might get thunderstorms later.
Do you often encounter something that immediately changes your plans and absorbs your attention for a long period of time? That is what happens to us "owls" all the time. (I'll get into the What Kind of Bird Are You mode soon.) For instance:
Today, I had bills to pay and important phone calls to make. However, I picked up the Book Review section of yesterday's New York Times and read a bit about the following book"
How I Lost Myself in the Mysterious Disappearance of Maura Murray by James Renner. I immediately went out to the Amazon book store on my Kindle and read a snippet of the book. I was hooked. I purchased the book and downloaded it, and have been reading it all day, not paying my bills, and not making my calls... until my Kindle battery died. As soon as it comes back to life, I will resume my reading. I can't wait.
I don't know why, but this case reminds me of a case I've mentioned before. A family, who lived downstairs from my friend, Courtney, wase written up in a True Detective magazine.. the same issue which featured a story by Courtney about the "famous detective Joe Vaughan."
Courtney showed me the magazine and I read his wonderful story. On the next page, I noticed a picture of the old man who lived downstairs. The story mentioned how somebody was murdered in his family and the father (the now old man) was the prime suspect. There was not enough evidence to convict him, and some thought that maybe he was not the perpetrator. A mystery.
I have been trying for years to find that magazine copy. Courtney died some time ago. I have gone out to the Internet and searched many different ways.. but with no luck. Surely, somewhere, in somebody's attic, there is that copy that I want to see again before I pass on.
Meanwhile, besides this story, the Joe Vaughan Fan Club and Niemand Associates, I have another claim to fame... take a look:
(Unfortunately, I can't get this item to download, so I printed it out and will type it out here.)

Subject: Re: Joe F. Vaughan, alias "Frank James"
"This was my grandmothers Grandpa.
She would tell us stories all about when she was a little girl and Joe Vaughn aka Frank James would ride for days. Funny coming across this. I just asked my mom about it again. She said that his son Ebb went to his death bed saying my dad was Frank James. There is a family book with all the information that my aunts have. Mom said we have a copy of it and will let me read it over. My Dad knew a lot about this; But sadly he is not here to answer questions for me anymore. I know my Dad's family strongly believes that he was Frank James."
